Most new traders at some point become aware of the semi-mythical beast known as 'Turtle Trading'. The legend has undoubtedly grown in the telling, but here are the facts, as far as we know.

In mid-1983, famous commodities trader Richard Dennis tried to settle a debate with fellow great Bill Eckhardt about whether traders were born or made - nature or nurture, in fact, and the basis for the excellent film 'Trading Places'. Richard held to the 'nurture' school, Bill thought that genetics and aptitude were the deciding factors. To settle the matter once and for all, they recruited and trained some beginners, giving them actual accounts to trade to see whether a great trader could be 'made'.
